How to observe Kanda Sashti viradham

Skanda Sashti or Kanda Shasti Viradham 

is an important observance dedicated to Lord Muruga

This is year it is starting from November 14th to November 20th 2012

First day .. November 14 .. Kanda Sashti ..1 st day
                 November 15    Kanda Shasti .. 2nd day
                 November 16    Kanda Shasti .. 3rd day
                 November 17    Kanda Shasti .. 4th day
                November 18 .. Kanda Shasti .. 5th day
                 November 19 .. 6th day .. Surasamharam
                November 20th .. Thirukalyanam 

The Viradham .. There is no common method.   It will vary devotees to devotees.

Some Basic rules are

** Completely avoid Non.veg foods
** Avoid Garlic & Onion
** Read  Kanta Shasti Kavasam or Subramaniya Bhujangam.     
**During These fasting days visit Murugan temples
** Single meal a day is always welcome

Viradham is an opportunity to clean the body and get rid of unwanted toxic elements , it is always advisable to drink plenty of water, coconut water and fruit juices.

Fasting should be voluntarily and it should not be done unwillingly.
