cancer fear for yuvraj .. his mother refused

Yuvraj is seeking treatment for a non-malignant tumour on his left lung, it was learnt today.

The Indian cricketer, who won the Man of the Tournament award during India's World Cup triumph, had earlier voluntarily withdrawn himself from the Mumbai Test which ended today.

His mother Shabnam released a statement today stating he had been having bouts of coughing and vomiting but ignored the problem thinking it to be a stress-related issue.
Yuvraj had pulled out of the West Indies tour on grounds of a chest infection. Since his problems persisted, he underwent medical tests after which it was revealed that he had a golf-ball sized growth on the lung.
The finger injury he sustained in England gave Yuvraj more time to assess the problem. Earlier, there were fears that the tumour could be malignant, Shabnam said.
"Further reports have indicated that the tumour is non-malignant and non-threatening and can be treated through proper medication and therapy. In medical terms, Yuvraj is now in a much better state and on his way to a full recovery," she said.
Yuvraj had earlier asked selectors not to consider him for the upcoming West Indies ODIs so that he could sort out his health issues.
